I certainly agree but to the proponents of the “ #OnlineSafetyBill “ the #RussellBrand case is still a “valuable” kind of a “dry run” to figure out how #numb the public already is to these kinds of #censorship measures.
Also, #demonetization can be a very effective means to thwart or even shut down (notoriously #underfunded) #independent #media and therefore shouldn’t be treated as an isolated issue. #TheGreyzone has recently been attacked this way but luckily, they’re still afloat.
Finally, let’s not forget about the #EuropeanUnion’s “ #DigitalServicesAct “! I consider this one to be even worse and scarier than the #OSB due to its much wider impact and support.
People in the #EU seem to understand and care even less than in the #UnitedKingdom, and in any case less than in the #UnitedStates. #Europe, with few exceptions, is completely lacking a sense for civil rights and liberties; #FreedomOfInformation being one of the unavoidable catch-words to come up in any #freedom related discussion. #UvdLTexts
