Preston Maness ☭Interesting observation for my own posterity... I had a good #A1C at the latest check-up (6.7 IIRC). The doc took me off of glipizide as a result, hoping that just #trulicity would be sufficient. However, now, for the past month, I've been struggling to control my blood sugar. And, when it gets high enough, the effect is... oddly reminiscent of being high. It's not the same effect of course, but... it's close enough for me to notice. Huh. 🤷

Apparently, now there is a safety flag for certain doses.

Sorry, #dulaglutide med #trulicity; the more general description of these drugs is #glp1 receptor agonists.
Apparently various professional orgs have been kinda all over the map on whether or not to hold such meds pre-op, but now they are coalescing -- still without formal evidence-based guidance, mind you -- around 24-hour liquid diet in preoperative phase, especially for higher doses of the meds for patients on weekly regimens.
Maybe due to #semaglutide med #trulicity, which delays gastric emptying? Just a "shot" in the dark, really. The paranoid person in me thinks that the GI doc might be trying to increase billable hours knowing that I've already hit deductible for the year.

So bad that they were talking about options like a stimulator or a drain tube, which would be ironic because I have a feeding tube. We joked, "I would have one for input, she would have one for output."
A new #nurse practitioner determined it was her #Trulicity causing it, took her off of it &added mealtime insulin
