if you put 1/2 at the end of your first post that's fine, but starting your second of a paired set of posts with words means those who see them out of order read the whole thing. Spoils punchlines, for example.
In the elder days of Art,β¨ Builders wrought with greatest careβ¨Each minute and unseen part;β¨ For the Gods see everywhere.
I am floored and fascinated by the near-literary quality of many of the descriptions of images that people carefully craft when appending pictures to their posts on Mastodon. Some of them will reveal a detail that had escaped my attention. Others will help me understand a subtle joke I had missed. Others still are true poems. ALT are their own microblogging world that reveals itself as you hover on a picture. And I hover, and hover.
Please don't post your politically motivated content, or social justice toots under wide ranges of hashtags that have nothing to do with your content.
I'm fine with you posting it. Don't shit all over random non-relevant hashtags with it. #etiquette #tootiquette ?
If you have just joined #mastodon, then here's a few things you probably should do asap.
1. Fill out your profile. Make sure to specify topics you usually post about.
2. Write a post with the hashtag #introduction listing your interests as hashtags. Pin it.
3. Boost generously.
4. Check out #tootiquette for notes about what is acceptable in the #fediverse.
FWIW, I mostly talk about #audio #radio #podcasting #VOs #storytelling #writing #science and #tech on this account.
Welcome! :)
@AnirbanM Oh yes, that large audience will absolutely continue to remain. No doubt. But if they outnumber everyone else, then everyone else will leave.
e.g., Something similar happened with FB and now all our parents are on it, while we migrated to other places.
I think it's a sociological phenomenon, rather than a technological one.
(PS: I dunno the #tootiquette of keeping a tagged person in a reply thread. I don't want to flood @malwaretech's mentions but also don't want to exclude them.)
