I like this subtle shift toward an emphasis on how The Troth interacts with and supports people rather than dictating what and how they believe.

For people interested in learning about Heathenry (Norse Paganism), here are some good choices that focus on Inclusive Heathenry.

* Essential Asatru by Diana Paxson
* A Practical Heathen's Guide to Asatru by Patricia Lafayllve
* The Way of Fire and Ice by Ryan Smith

For anyone I terested in a hefty haul of Heathen information, there's Our Troth by The Troth, one of the largest Heathen organizations in the US. It's a 3-volume set, with a book on the Gods, one on the history and one on practice, and can be found at Amazon or Lulu.com.

Even though I don't consider a personal relationship with gods an important part of my religious practice, I still frame myself as a #Heathen. I'm a member of #TheTroth and I read a lot.

I do not make offerings to the gods though, and I do not petition them. I observe and acknowledge seasons, milestones, my people and family, my home, my surroundings. If I feel an intuitive nudge, I'm much more likely to ascribe it to some local wight or an ancestor.

As a somewhat related aside, I really don't understand the Brotru obsession with Valhalla. We've seen what a single traumatic event can do to a person's enjoyment of existence, but being thrown into a battlefield every day for all eternity with no possible escape is supposed to be a good thing? I'll happily sink into a mound, thanks.
