And for those doing push ups - today's target is 167, for the 16.7% of Australians (one in six) who have experienced suicidal thoughts or behaviours in their life. TBH, I suspect it's higher (though I'm not going to tell them that, 167 is already enough for today!)

I'm doing The Push-Up Challenge this month and I've just nailed day 1! 120 out of 3,214 push-ups done for the month. The number is deliberate - it is the number of lives lost to suicide in Australia in 2023 (and no doubt it has only got worse since). The challenge aims to raise money for mental health services across Australia. Donated funds go to Lifeline, headspace or The Push for Better Foundation.

#thepushupchallenge this morning I started my day with 3x10p/u. It feels good leaving for work with your body strong. I did my 4x10 remaining p/u at the end of the day. [1860 to go]
The Push-Up Challenge - Day One

Today’s target is 49 push-ups, for the 4.9 times increased likelihood of poor mental health among those experiencing a low sense of community.

In Canada it is expected for the 20% of the population to show some kind of mental illness. This statistics are embarrassing for our society. #thepushupchallenge was created to raise awareness about this issue. The goal is 2000 pushups during the month of February. I started my day with 2 sets of 10 pushups. I need about 50 more by the end of the day to be able to achieve the goal. It feels nice walking towards work with a stronger core. Too much desk time during the day doesn’t help.
