I have abandoned the internet, smartphones, credit cards, and computers. My brain isn’t overloaded, I truly live in the moment: John Foley’s radical choice.

An activity, no smartphone, no internet, and not even credit cards. This is the radical choice of John Foley, 38 years old, owner of a multi-award-winning nursery in Holden, a town in the United States, who decided to completely abandon technology to return to an “analog” working method, based solely on paper, pen, and direct contact with customers.

A decision that matured over time, culminating in a definitive break with the digital world. Foley explained to the Daily Star: “It was therapeutic and liberating; I feel as if I’ve regained control of my life, my mind, and my sense of fulfillment. My screen time was approximately 5 hours and 40 minutes a day, not an enormous amount, but I thought I was productive. In reality, I wasn’t, and I’ve now recovered that time. Not being constantly reachable by phone has slowed things down, and actually improved the quality of my life. My days seem four times longer, and I now truly live in the moment. My brain is able to think instead of always being overloaded. I no longer feel the need to fill every empty space with my phone.”

His choice began in 2023, when he stopped using his smartphone after finding it increasingly a source of distraction. “My last phone use was Tuesday, June 13, 2023,” he recounts. From there began a gradual process of detachment, fueled by two episodes that he himself describes as “life-changing.”

The first concerned a trip to London, during which he was working on the development of the “The Wonder Garden” app. “We missed the train because one of us had forgotten the charger. That evening, when we arrived at the rental house, I stayed up late writing messages. The next morning, I simply decided to do without it.”

The second episode was decisive for the final change. During a subsequent trip, he realized how much the phone was influencing his time and attention. “It wasn’t easy, but I discovered that I finally had time to talk to people, and worries about emails or messages could simply wait.”

From that moment on, Foley began to reduce technology even more, eventually arriving at a drastic choice: to eliminate computers, internet, and credit cards, opting for cash and traditional tools. Today he works with paper agendas, handwritten notes, and even a blackboard for organizing daily activities.

He continued to vape even while being urgently taken to the hospital for a collapsed lung: a man addicted to e-cigarettes.

At 34, Dylan Bonney thought he’d made the right choice when, seven years ago, he decided to abandon traditional cigarettes in favor of e-cigarettes. A decision made in anticipation of the birth of his first daughter, with the conviction that vaping was a “cleaner and safer” alternative to smoking, after over a decade of dependence on tobacco.

The reality, however, turned out to be very different. The man developed such an addiction that he carried the device with him at all times, even going to sleep with the device in his hand and consuming amounts he himself describes as “disgusting” of liquid.

The situation deteriorated last February, as reported by the Daily Star, when, during a work shift, Dylan experienced a sudden and violent chest pain. An incipient heart attack was ignored, leading him to continue his shift as a cook, while trying to “breathe through a straw.”

Having managed to reach the hospital independently, Dylan Bonney lost consciousness shortly after his arrival. The diagnosis left no room for doubt: collapse of the right lung. An emblem of his addiction, Dylan continued to vape even while being transported on a stretcher, unaware of the severity of his condition.

The man had to undergo an emergency surgery to reinflate the lung and now wants to raise awareness among other smokers about the potential dangers of vaping.

Flash wedding: they marry and divorce three minutes later. Blame is being placed on a cruel remark from the now ex-wife.

A couple finalized their marriage after just three minutes, when the bride requested an annulment following an offensive comment from the new husband. After reciting the marriage vows, the man called his wife “stupid,” provoking the woman’s immediate reaction who decided to end the recently celebrated union.

The marriage of a couple ended in a way to beat all records, lasting just three minutes, after the groom mocked the bride as they were leaving the ceremony. After completing the legal formalities, the newlyweds were turning to leave the courthouse, but the bride tripped.

According to the Daily Star, the groom reacted by calling her “stupid” for having fallen. Q8 News states that the woman became furious and asked the judge to immediately annul the marriage.

The judge agreed, issuing the annulment just a few minutes after they had initially declared them husband and wife. The couple, resident in Kuwait, never left the courthouse as husband and wife. It is believed this is the shortest marriage in the country’s history.
