#Greyhounds have slinked off to bed leaving me to play some #NewRecordDayFriday #music. I poked around in #roon #Qobuz interface finding a #DaveBrubeck #LiveShow #recording from a 1953 gig at Oberlin College, noted for its music school. Dave’s #TakeFive #quartet plays #StraightAhead in this new release. Current rights holders are vault diving. But this is a nice set in a good small hall that was well recorded.

Sunday #music #NowPlaying is Sean Mason’s “The Southen Suite” #StraightAhead #trumpet #jazz #quartet #recording. #NPR Weekend Edition Sunday profiled Sean and his recording this morning. The record is an October 27 new release. Sean is an emerging artist so Roon does not currently have a bio or record review.

We’re listening to the Qobuz release via #Roon but others also have this title available.

Recommend you approach it as new #BigBand #Jazz and not your beloved Mahler 7th.

The 4 on the floor groove is not my taste. But there is modern wonky percussion around the groove.
