As I let “Drops” roll, the music is very much from Miles Davis “Bitches Brew” formulary. I’m recalling “Miles Runs the Voodoo Down” in particular.

This record is edgier than our normal offerings but very much “in bounds” in the 21st century.

I poked around in #roon #Qobuz interface finding a #DaveBrubeck #LiveShow #recording from a 1953 gig at Oberlin College, noted for its music school. Dave’s #TakeFive #quartet plays #StraightAhead in this new release. Current rights holders are vault diving. But this is a nice set in a good small hall that was well recorded.

Sama Layuca #PostBop #piano #jazz just remastered and sent out into the world today. Amazing stuff happens in the percussion especially vibes and piano. Very kinetic recording but in a quiet way. Lots happening. These cats are blazing a trail into the future.
