Alexander_Anotherskip_Davis@thegiftofgabes Yeah so the reason why the early TES games had 0-100 for the skills was it was based on #GURPS. Same with #Fallout . #SJG sued em over it and they stopped using everything they could. There are still notes in the Wiki about some of the Fallout Las Vegas characters being inspired by the tabletop games they ran prior to building the game.

Open source can revive interest in a product as a kind of ad, and if newly-interested gamers wanted to buy high quality printed GURPS books, where better to go?
But really, there's not much chance.
I'd love to play a #TTRPG system that combined the roll-under percentile dice mechanics of #BasicRoleplaying with the rich sourcebooks and #InfiniteWorlds backdrop of #GURPS. For solo #RPG adventures, I'd use #MatrixGames as an oracle:

I mean, this is kind of what I do anyway, but I'd like it to be integrated. Maybe with #ORC! Do you think #SteveJacksonGames can be talked into liberating GURPS?
SpinnerI was surprised at first that #SJG was missing from the list of companies backing the #ORC initiative from #Paizo. Then I remembered that mechanics, tools and rules are #GURPS, and giving them away makes no sense. They have modules based on the works of others, but not their own specific IPs.
We can infer that content is what the ORC emphasizes as the main asset, and adherent systems are just game languages. GURPS (other than Lite) doesn't want to give its language away.
Spinner#KoboldPress, #Chaosium and #Legendary joining Paizo's initiative... Wow. I'm curious as to what #WoD, as well as #SJG, will do.
The real value is in IP, and these important voices are acknowledging that fact.
Critical Role has a lot at stake with #Exandria, and if they try to stay out of it (cut a deal on the side), it may impact their standing with fans. If I were Paizo, I'd be courting them like crazy.
