Why is Health Minister Simeon Brown having quiet meetings with Serco? The company has a dreadful reputation internationally and a very poor record in NZ.

While they're best-known in NZ for being unable to run a prison, they also have their fingers in healthcare services in Australia, the South Pacific and the United Kingdom.

There's a suggestion that the Nats may be about to hand over part of the Dunedin Hospital rebuild to Serco. Because bad multinationals deserve taxpayer support.

Bryce Edwards: "Before the nation is locked into a long-term contract with a company defined by its failures, the public has a right to know what is being planned in its name."

Green MP Francisco Hernandez: "I'm frankly astonished that they took the meeting in the first place. Even the appearance of meeting Serco as the Minister of Health really discredits him."
