Coming from across the ditch where GST on all goods and services including any imported goods was first raised from 10% to 12.5% and later to 15% both times by #NZPol RW neoliberal Govt’s that raising GST has made the poorer pay tax on a far greater proportion of their income compared to higher earners and of course businesses can right off all GST it pays, against the GST it brings in and paying the difference or in cases of losses have the GST proportional loss refunded.

The hypocrisy from the media on the Green’s minor budget error is astounding. They are consistently bringing forward policy that is independently costed, unlike the other parties. What the media chooses to emphasise is that a leaked budget contained an error due to a spreadsheet typo.

Meanwhile, Hipkins can claim that he’ll fund major healthcare policy with a tax that won’t generate anything for years, and he’s apparently sensible.
