For over a year, activists and legal institutions around the world have demanded an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza, but Israel’s officials have continued to block and sabotage each ceasefire deal. And the first phase is only a temporary ceasefire. We’re paying attention to make sure Israel’s government actually implements and abides by a ceasefire deal; not just a temporary one but a permanent ceasefire. And we know that even a permanent ceasefire is just the beginning: There are many more necessary steps beyond that to ensure Palestinians’ inalienable right to self-determination.
