Die färöischen Ruderboote sind leicht, schmal und so konstruiert, dass sie sich auch in den Gewässern des Nordatlantiks gut manövrieren lassen. Ihre Bauform knüpft an jahrhundertealte Traditionen an. Zwar werden sie heute nicht mehr in der Fischerei eingesetzt, doch im Wettkampfrudern haben sie weiterhin eine zentrale Bedeutung – dabei gilt das Boot selbst als ebenso wichtig wie die sportliche Leistung.
