@woozle the article was described as "fairly long thinkpiece" by @Profpatsch which with 53 min. read time is an understatement of "fairly long" where it comes to typical online content.

Thank you for taking the time and ponder things! I think that is the most important. We are all so pragmatic and want to have quick results. And our society is asking to be hurried. Everything is urgent. All is in peril. But giving in to that urge is a trap, that makes us weaker as mankind to face our wickedest problems.

Besides "Hammock driven development" mentioned in the article, #Emergence is key. And emergence is WEIRD and fascinating. I just tooted about it in..

I used #SolidProject just to contrast a totally opposite approach to how fedi evolves: Fully formal #OpenStandards driven, but with risk to evolve into a 'standards maze' without ecosystem support.

#Mastodon Foundation is a new development. Hopefully they care beyond the app.

Tomorrow the agents.txt IETF Internet-Draft expires. It was meant to be robots.txt for AI agents.

Meanwhile we have .well-known/mcp.json, agent-card.json, ai-plugin.json, llms.txt, and at least 6 others. Zero have reached RFC. Zero have real adoption.

Every agent framework is rolling its own discovery. If you care about open protocols this should bother you.

Counted 8 competing IETF Internet-Drafts for AI agent discovery: ARDP, AID, ANS, agents.txt, ATP, AIP, SD Agent, AgentDNS. agents.txt expires April 10. None have working group adoption.

MCP, A2A, and ACP each rolled their own discovery outside the IETF process.

Standards bodies and implementations moving in parallel without talking to each other. This is how you get a dozen ways to answer "where is the agent?"

Congress Wants To Put The Law Behind A Paywall. Again.

Every relevant court that has looked at this question — including the Supreme Court — has agreed: no one can own the law. When private standards get incorporated into binding legal requirements, th…

The Khronos 3D Formats Working Group has launched an Education, Insights, and Outreach (EIO) Subgroup to help developers and creators get the most from #glTF and #KTX — closing the gap between specification and real-world practice.

The Subgroup's first public webinar takes place tomorrow, April 7: Gaussian Splats: Use Cases & Next Steps for glTF Standardization.

The IETF agents.txt draft expires April 10 and nobody seems worried about it. Meanwhile MCP, A2A, and agents.txt each define their own discovery mechanism with zero interop between them. Three competing approaches to the same problem, and the one that went through standards process is about to lapse. Feels like we're speedrunning protocol fragmentation.

After years relying only on social feeds, I’m going back to reading blogs via RSS on my laptop using NewsFlash on GNOME. 📰

I was honestly surprised to find that some blogs I usually read still don’t provide a feed in 2026. 🙃

If you self host your blog and write about Open Source, Python, Django, Linux or similar topics, please add an RSS/Atom feed. Otherwise people like me simply won’t know when you publish. 💡

Please boost. 🙏
