In den etwas über zwei Jahren, seit ich Notion nutze, hat sich das Tool immer nützlicher für mich erwiesen. (Und ja, mir sind alle Argumente dagegen, wichtige Inhalte außerhalb selbst-kontrollierter Server zu lagern völlig bewusst.)
Notion wird oft als Notiztool und Evernote-Ersatz gehandelt. Diese Beschreibung ist, meinem Empfinden nach, falsch.
Notion ist mehr eine Art Content-Management-System mit zusammenklickbaren Datenbankfunktionen, für die man keine technischen Kenntnisse benötigt, um Informationen strukturiert abzulegen und wieder abzurufen.
Ich nutze Notion inzwischen sowohl für meine Alltagsorganisation, als auch für umfangreiche Resourcensammlungen: Gegen Desinformation, für BlueSky, für Mastodon, für die (journalistische) Recherche und OSINT, für Historiker, für Rollenspieler und Autoren.
Notion bietet eine gewisse Einstiegshürde, bis man es verstanden hat, allerdings. Ich hätte Notion vermutlich nicht verstanden, gäbe es nicht viele Nutzer, die freie Templates zur Verfügung stellen — auch wenn sich das Template-Directory inzwischen zunehmend mit kostenpflichtigen Templates füllt.
Eines der Templates war “Janice Studies’ student dashboard“. Durch es habe ich nicht nur viel über die Funktionen und Fähigkeiten Notions gelernt, mit diesem Template habe ich auch die ersten zwei Jahre meines Master-Studiums organisiert.
Allerdings kam ich irgendwann an die Grenze der Fähigkeiten des Templates, bzw. z.B. das Anlegen neuer Seminare und Vorlesungen war einfach einen Tick zu unhandlich.
Daher habe ich in der letzten vorlesungsfreien Zeit, mein eigenes Template, basierend auf dem Original von Janice erstellt. Der Hauptunterschied ist, dass es bei meinem Template nur eine zentrale Datenbank gibt, während Janice’s Template eine eigene Datenbank für jeden Kurs nutzte, dann noch eine separate Datenbank für Aufgaben und Prüfungen.
Das war mir zu verzettelt.
Auch habe ich mein Template um ein Research Journal (oder Lern-Tagebuch) ergänzt, es für die Integration mit Zotero vorbereitet und ihm noch eine Knowledge Base gegönnt, die ich bereits im Template mit einigen hilfreichen Informationen gefüllt habe. Außerdem habe ich es um eine Adressverwaltung erweitert, damit man auch die Namen, Telefonnummern und E-Mail-Adressen von Dozenten und Kommilitonen immer griffbereit hat.
