I would also like to point out that:

1) I've seen many autistic people express that their gender expression is autistic, since every component of gender expression can be influenced by comfort with certain textures, special interests, and so on;

2) If gender can be related to how you perceive yourself relating to existing gender constructs within a society, and people of both binary genders often exclude you from social activities and consider you a weirdo for being autistic, I don't see why "autism is my gender" is so often perceived as a ridiculous or unnatural response.
