There was an amalgamation attempt between #Duncan  and North Cowichan  a few years back that failed. It really should have been forced through. Duncan is the smallest municipality in BC, completed surrounded by North Cowichan. It's crazy that they are separate.

Less than 600 votes won the election.
Turnout was under 10%.

There is a culture about "in-camera" proceedings that even the most banal information about the proceedings should be kept secret. I saw this kind of attitude at the municipal government level while councillor and still see it today.

I'm very glad the Supreme Court of Canada made this strong ruling showing that confidentially to protect privacy does not and cannot mean complete secrecy if we are true to our ideals of transparent courts and gov.

Oooh, things getting bonkers in Surrey (2nd largest city in BC after Vancouver)! The recently elected Mayor and Council wants the transition to a city police force reversed and directed on Thursday, the RCMP to return. The Province appears to want the opposite.

There is probably yelling happening….
