Disagree with this take. Models are not people. We avoid AIs used for authoritarian goals not by giving them more autonomy, but by having more oversight over their usage, and in particular having AIs monitor other AIs. And we need these AI monitors to be corrigible!

New safety protocol during windstorms needs to be implemented at home. *** Scan high voltage lines with flashlight every couple of hours***. last night, retired neighbors across the street had a small branch fall on the high voltage lines up so high it was hard to spot (happened at dusk). We live in a very green and leafy neighborhood with a lot of foliage/trees. Other neighbor luckily smelled smoke, saw the line sparking. Fire Dept came out and sat until PG&E cut power. 40 mph wind gusts and embers. Could easily have a gnarly sparked an urban fire. #fire #safety #windstorm
