MEGA just upped the storage allotment on their cheapest plan to 750GB.

my plan is expiring and I think I'm gonna let it for a while, just because I need to focus my limited dollars elsewhere. but I have been very satisfied with the paid service for many years at this point.

the only issue is that it can be annoying to pay for due to US government meddling with payment processors, still trying to pointlessly punish a company that hasn't been connected to Kim Dotcom for, what, more than a decade now?

they did recently move their HQ to Hungary and out of NZ, something that will matter for different reasons to different people. but their #CloudStorage service itself is #E2EE.

at this point, MEGA is still a service I recommend.

interesting ... looks like Mega.io (formerly Mega.nz) has moved headquarters for its cloud storage business from New Zealand to Hungary 👀

the Terms & Conditions still specifically state that files are not stored in or served from the USA. but they are stored in multiple EU locations.

Я не специалист, но вижу, что если ключ шифрования хранится на стороне сервиса, то какая разница, даже если файлы там действительно, зашифрованы, сервис всё может расшифровать без участия пользователя.
Это так устроена mega.nz
Для восстановления доступа надо знать мастер-пароль, который не нужно знать для логина. Значит мастер-пароль хранится на стороне сервиса.
