“Do it on Dumfries and a penalty? I didn’t see them, but I was told there weren’t any”: Palladino after Inter-Atalanta
“The incidents? I didn’t see them.” That’s what Raffaele Palladino told Dazn about the alleged refereeing errors in Inter–Atalanta, which ended 1-1 with countless controversies over the referee Manganiello’s decisions. “You know that I never talk about referees. I was told that Marelli confirmed that neither of them saw anything and we trust those who do this job,” concluded the coach of the Bergamo club, no longer commenting on the most discussed incidents of the afternoon.
Quite the opposite opinion is held by the Milanese Nerazzurri, who, after the match, announced silence as a form of protest regarding Manganiello’s choices, both in connection with the 1-1 goal and the missed penalty call for Frattesi. Chivu was sent off for protests after the equalizer goal, while at the end of the game all the players surrounded the referee to ask for explanations about the choices made in the two cited incidents.
Palladino then shifted the focus to the game, with an important point for his team involved in the Champions League battle: “It was a difficult week, we faced two heavyweights, I liked the team’s response, especially from a mental point of view. There could have been setbacks, but the team reacted well, like men. I liked the intensity, there was physical fatigue. I also liked the spirit of those who came on, this is a great group that has been pulling together for four months and I ask them so much.”
The coach then concluded: “They sweat the jerseys, give everything with great commitment, it’s not easy to play every three days, I want to thank them for playing a great game. We grew during the game, the first half was our idea to stay lower. Unfortunately, we didn’t take advantage of the counterattacks that Inter conceded to us. In the second, I knew that the initiative could change, and those who come on always give great energy. I’m very satisfied, happy, the team is growing, our strength is the bench.”

I had to withdraw due to an “electrical” problem”: Marelli explains his absence from DAZN during the derby.
First in Genoa–Roma, then in the derby between Milan and Inter. Many people had noticed the absence of Luca Marelli at Dazn during the last two Sunday matches of Serie A. The former referee – now a well-known opinionist on refereeing controversies – was not present for personal reasons, which he later clarified on social media. “Dear friends near and far, I am well. I had to, unfortunately, give up on Genoa-Roma and Milan-Inter due to an ‘electrical’ problem that needed a quick check-up. I am at home, reassured by tests that gave a negative result, we ‘talk’ to each other as always next weekend. A hug to everyone, I clearly felt your affection. Good night,” Marelli wrote on Facebook.
In the past, Luca Marelli had recounted an infarction that had struck him in 2015. “Do not wait to give up on tobacco only after being forced to. It was like this for me: I had to stop after finding myself on the verge of death in my office, almost choked by a heart attack caused precisely by excessive cigarette use. Smoking does not give a tone of maturity. Smoking gives problems. And it has no usefulness,” Luca Marelli had written in a blog in 2019.

Llanelli workers face pre-Christmas earnings hit after Jaguar Land Rover cyber attack
Hundreds of workers in Llanelli are facing a loss of income in the run-up to Christmas after a cyber attack on Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) disrupted supply chains and halted production across the UK.
Agency staff laid off as overtime dries up
The impact has been felt acutely at Marelli and Gestamp, two major automotive suppliers in Llanelli with a combined workforce of 360. Agency workers have already been laid off, while permanent staff have been told to stay home and “work back” hours — effectively cancelling overtime many rely on for festive spending.
Local Labour MS Lee Waters raised the issue in the Senedd this week, warning that the cyber attack had left Welsh workers “in limbo” and calling for urgent clarity on when UK Government support will reach affected sites.
Welsh Government in daily contact with suppliers
First Minister Eluned Morgan said Welsh Government teams were in daily contact with around 30 suppliers across Wales, and that support services including React and Working Wales were on standby to assist affected workers.
“The JLR cyber attack has hit Welsh suppliers and the people who work in those companies hard,” she said. “We welcome the £1.5bn UK loan guarantee, but Welsh workers need to know when the money will land.”
She confirmed that both Marelli and Gestamp were being actively monitored, and that Economy Secretary Rebecca Evans had written to UK ministers seeking urgent updates.
Tata under pressure over lack of cyber insurance
Mr Waters criticised JLR’s parent company Tata for failing to have cyber insurance in place, despite previous high-profile attacks on UK retailers. He urged the Welsh Government to press Tata directly for support for downstream suppliers in Wales.
Llanelli Labour councillor Shaun Greaney added:
“Why is it the poor workers who always pay the price for ineptitude at a higher level? They should be compensated by JLR’s owners Tata.”
JLR introduces supplier support scheme
In response, JLR said it had launched a short-term financing scheme to help suppliers with cashflow, including faster payments and reimbursement of financing costs. A dedicated help desk and manual payment system have also been introduced, with automated systems now being restored.
The company said the scheme would initially support critical suppliers needed to restart production, before expanding to include non-production partners.
