#throwbackthursday Almost 10 years ago I had a membership to the late lamented Techshop #Pittsburgh and made this #laser cut #chess set and box for the pieces. It was a challenging project, but a lot of fun. I’d doubt my kids have used it more than a couple of times. Box is 1/4” cherry plywood, board and pieces at acrylic cut on their @trotecusa laser.

I’ve been 3D printing since 2013 with a MakerGear M2 fused filament printer, and am truly amazed at what the AnyCubic mono 4k at $189 can do. These are right out of the box, no tuning. The print quality is mind boggling.

I finally got around to making drawers for a bench I made a few years ago from a reclaimed door I got at Construction Junction (an architectural salvage & reuse nonprofit here in #Pittsburgh ) and some square steel tubing. The drawers are simple plywood and pocket hole joinery draw fronts are cherry, and the pulls were from someone running a brushing scam. I only have 18 more to use.

Almost 10 years after my first 3D printer, my wife got me this @anycubicofficial Photon mono 4k. The original @makergear M2 still works great, but at one seventh the cost, how could you not try out #resin printing. I’ve used a @formlabs printer at work, and am looking forward to superfine detail and different materials. Unfortunately it didn’t come with resin, so I’ll have to wait.

#introduction continued… I turned this segmented cherry wood #yarn bowl for my better three quarters a couple of years ago for Christmas. Turned on my old ShopSmith 10er. I’m keeping an eye out for a good deal on a vintage wood #lathe.

#ThrowbackThursday starting to post some content. I built this New Yankee Workshop router table about 25 years ago using a ShopSmith 10er that I still have and use only for the occasional turning project. The router table has seen a lot of use over the years as I’ve added to my shop. Thank Norm.
