A couple of weeks ago, the YouTube algorithm gods blessed me with a showcase of a program called Chronicler. Very happy with it so far. Its making lorebuilding feel dramatically less scattered and laborious. Nabbed a license. It's source-available too, which is nice and respecting of privacy.

Environmental storytelling is key. The Stalker is preceded by a sharp, metallic ozone scent and the sound of a lake freezing inside its chest. These sensory "tells" allow players to detect a threat even in 0% visibility blizzard conditions.
