π Just switched to Ubuntu 24.04 LTS. My Windows setup was eating 4GB+ RAM just sitting on the desktop. Open 2-3 browser tabs? Boom 5.5GB gone.
On Ubuntu? The entire system is idling at a crisp 1.7GB.
With RAM prices so high, Linux is the smartest hardware upgrade you can get. Plus, it came with every app I need right out of the box.
The best PC upgrade in 2026 isn't a new stick of RAM, it's a USB drive with Linux.

π§ Linux powers my entire workspace.
Iβve used Ubuntu for over 2 years in my software development journey. Recently, I installed Debian for electronics research, schematics, and hardware-related work.
My workflow includes:
β’ Full-stack development
β’ AI experiments
β’ Electronics repair & circuit analysis
Open-source tools let me build both software and hardware systems in one environment.
Hereβs my Linux-powered workspace ποΈ
Made the switch to Linux! π§π»
Iβve installed Ubuntu 24.04.4 LTS (Noble Numbat) on my system and started exploring the Linux environment. The installation was smooth and the system feels fast and powerful.
Here's a screenshot of my Ubuntu setup running on my machine.
Excited to learn more about Linux and open-source software!
Participating in the Linux Desktop Challenge organized by EduNET & LEARN.
Iβve switched to Linux Mint 22.1 as my daily driver, and itβs the perfect environment for my workflow. I primarily use my setup for academic research and running open-source AI models locally. Having full control over my system resources makes a huge difference for local AI!
Here is a look at my current setup. π
I have installed Arch and alpine on my laptop. I'm looking for a suitable OS that boot the device quickly. I can't see that much different between Arch and windows (2~3 min). Alpine is kind of helpful to the situation with ~1 min boot time.
Probably the major issue is the HDD in the lap.
Switched to Arch Linux and built my own workspace around open-source freedom.
Even repurposed an old laptop screen into a fully functional external monitor β giving hardware a second life.
Custom, efficient, and sustainable computing. π§
