π Just switched to Ubuntu 24.04 LTS. My Windows setup was eating 4GB+ RAM just sitting on the desktop. Open 2-3 browser tabs? Boom 5.5GB gone.
On Ubuntu? The entire system is idling at a crisp 1.7GB.
With RAM prices so high, Linux is the smartest hardware upgrade you can get. Plus, it came with every app I need right out of the box.
The best PC upgrade in 2026 isn't a new stick of RAM, it's a USB drive with Linux.

Iβve installed Ubuntu 24.04.4 LTS (Noble Numbat) on my system and started exploring the Linux environment. The installation was smooth and the system feels fast and powerful.

I have installed Arch and alpine on my laptop. I'm looking for a suitable OS that boot the device quickly. I can't see that much different between Arch and windows (2~3 min). Alpine is kind of helpful to the situation with ~1 min boot time.
Probably the major issue is the HDD in the lap.
Switched to Arch Linux and built my own workspace around open-source freedom.
Even repurposed an old laptop screen into a fully functional external monitor β giving hardware a second life.

Finally made the switch to Linux (Ubuntu 24.04 LTS)! π§ The customizability is just insane and the speed wooww!. Iβd say installing Linux is the 2nd best choice Iβve made in my life... I'll let you guess the 1st one! π (Ha ha!)
