Except for the UK Liberal party who merged with the SDP in the '90s to become the #LibDems, planted themselves firmly in the centre, then the Overton window shifted and they're now considered to be centre-leftwing?

So #Lambeth seems poised to be one of the last councils in #London to declare the winner of the #localelections, with high stakes and apparently very upset #Labour councillors asking for recounts where there are small margins. We are now 1 seat away from Labour losing its historical majority.

The #LibDems love to position themselves as "centrist" & "moderate" - ignoring the fact that the #centre isn't a fixed point, but moves, & has been moving, further & further to the #right, with the rest of the #political #spectrum, for a very long time now. It may be reasonable to talk about counteracting the #threat from #ReformUK; but to lump them & @thegreenparty together is (a) insulting the #Greens; & (b) not very sensible #politics, given the LDs may need to go

🚨 Political post warning! 🚨 If you had the audacity to vote #Reform in last Thursday's election, I'm utterly disappointed with you. If you wanted to protest against #Labour you could have chosen #Greens or #LibDems - instead of a islamophobic, racist, transphobic party.
https://www.theguardian.com/politics/ng-interactive/2026/may/07/local-elections-2026-may-full-results-england-scotland-wales#Wales-banner. The #Welsh #Senedd #results: Plaid Cymru, 43; #ReformUK, 34; #Labour, 9; #Conservatives, 7; #Greens, 2; #LibDems, 1. The #election was by means of a new system, that of a closed Party list system in 16 multi-member constituencies, each returning 6 #members of the Senedd, 96 in total. 49 are required for a majority. The result is an absolute disaster for Labour, & - once again - sees #Reform profiting at the expense of the #Tories.
