🚨 Oh no, #JetBrains went full #Orwell and started rewriting history by deleting bad reviews of their AI Assistant nobody asked for! 😂 But don't worry, the wall of "403 Forbidden" will surely win hearts and minds. 🙄 #404SenseNotFound

What I noticed with all these #AI #programming tools ala #copilot (though I used #JetbrainsAI because fuck Microsoft tbh) is that the suggestions are okay if it's one or two lines, but it rips you out of your flow. You have a train of thought, you start writing it and think about your next step and boom. It suggests some code and now instead of following your train of thought you "code review" the suggestion. Completely killing your flow.

🔧 #JetBrains launches #Mellum, a specialized #LLM built specifically for software developers

🚀 Performance: 3x faster code completion, 40% suggestion acceptance rate, and significantly lower cancel rates compared to previous versions

💻 Language Support: Currently works with #Java #Kotlin #Python #Go #PHP, with more languages coming through Early Access Program

🔍 Integration: Deep synergy with #JetBrains #IDE ecosystem, providing contextually aware code suggestions

🛡️ Privacy Focus: Trained exclusively on publicly available, permissively licensed code

⚡ Availability: Currently accessible through #JetBrainsAI Assistant with AI Pro subscription or trial version

@andreagrandi I've found the #JetBrainsAI to be really great for speeding up the more "tedious" parts of coding, especially around boilerplate, and it integrates with the codebase in a way that allows it to explain codebase-specific problems or questions pretty well, too. It's not better than, like, talking to my manager, but it *is* faster, which makes it better for the small stuff.

Very practical use case for the #JetBrains AI Assistant: given a list of keys, write a dictionary and include a meaningful description for each key.

It even got the German right!
