NH guarantees interracial marriage rights in state law with new Marital Freedom Act

Though already legal under U.S. Supreme Court precedent, the bill’s sponsor says enshrining protections into state law sends a message.

NHPR

#Tennessee has passed a state law which effectively guts the #MarriageEqualityAct.

This is being sold to voters as a way to not force #CountyClerks & other officials to obey the law of the land, and allow them to practice their misguided beliefs. The problem is, #marriages CANNOT be legal without the signature of these officials.

It will also allow officials to discriminate against #InterracialMarriages and #InterfaithMarriages.

Their firm knowledge that the current #Conservative #SCOTUS bench will almost certainly refuse to uphold the #Constitution and existing laws, in favor of their own #bigoted ideology, is really emboldening the #KKK and other #GOP voters there.

The Tennessee House Just Passed a Bill Completely Gutting Marriage Equality

The bill could allow county clerks to deny marriage licenses to same-sex, interfaith, or interracial couples in Tennessee.

So did the #respectformarriageact force states to recognize #lgbtq marriages and #interracialmarriages?

For example, if, once my #idaho marriage was dissolved by #SCOTUS, I crossed the border into Washington, got married once again to my spouse, #idaho would have to offer state benefits in all areas including taxation and healthcare?

and what of the 16 states that still have interracial marriage bans in the books?
