Lisa Lorenzin (she/her)#homelab gurus! I am considering replacing our old #Synology DS1525 with a #TrueNAS, mostly because I want to run #Immich, #Paperlessngx, and #jellyfin on it without having to deal with Syno's out-of-date #Docker implementation.
If you're running TrueNAS, two questions:
1) how hard was it to get automated backups of #Windows and #Linux systems set up? I do appreciate Syno's built-in backup tools.
2) how bad an idea would it be to run these compute loads on the NAS vs a separate compute node? We are *not* heavy users - just the two of us and we're pretty casual about home use, so it feels like loads would be pretty minimal...
Any thoughts and suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

Es hat sogar nicht geholfen das update über iTunes/finder zu machen (wird dann extern gemacht und du brauchst theoretisch nicht so viel Platz.
Im Endeffekt hat es dazu geführt, dass dort Fotos nun in einem self-hosted #immich sind. Mal sehen wann das spezielle iPhone gegen Android getauscht wird.
#syncthing wäre auch einen Blick wert zum Fotos sichern

Ray KelmI was setting up #Immich on my local server this week, and after I started syncing photos, I realized I was really low on disk space, and the photo library was only using 36 out of 98 GB.
It turns out that when I set the machine up a few years ago using #ubuntu 22.04.2 LTS, it used LVM, and only assigned 100GB to the volume that has all my files, with 373GB unassigned.
I’m running a bunch of containers on this machine, and I have a “spare” 2TB SSD sitting around, so now I’m torn between “expand the volume and kick the can down the road” or “rebuild the system on a different distro and transfer the containers”. Decisions… decisions…
Connel HooleyToday I Installed #OpenCloud and completed my move away from Nextcloud.
I'm really happy with it.
Nextcloud was by far the most frustrating application I've self hosted. If there was a way for Nextcloud to be annoying, it would do it.
Been using #Immich for a while and it's amazing. That's replaced Memories.
Recently started using #Joplin. That's replaced Notes.
Set up some shared calendars with symlinks in OpenCloud's #Radicale add-on to replace Calendar and Contacts.
