At the weekend, I finally uploaded my Google Takeout to my #Immich instance.

First, I downloaded the Takeout as tgz, thought it's better, but #immichgo couldn't use it, because it's only accepts zip files... So I extracted the whole 400GB+ stuff, than zipped it >> created a 400GB zip file.
Fortunately that was usable by immich-go, so I ran it for a couple of hours, and now my Immich has photos from 10+ years earlier! 🎉 🎉

Someone mentioned #Immich the other day and I decided to give it another look, found out my main blocker is no longer relevant, gave it a spin, and it is indeed slick as hell.

Unfortunately, this means I noticed a small feature I would like to contribute, which means now I'm once again trying to build an Android app, which as usual has resulted in getting through enough trivial build failures (java version hell, etc) to get to the canonical Android build failure

Wenn von euch jemand zufällig gerade auf dem Weg ins Jahr 2002 ist...

Könnt ihr bei meinem jungen Ich vorbeischauen und ihm ausrichten das er BITTE BITTE BIIIITTE seine Fotos ordentlich, mit Datum im Ordnernamen ablegt, weil es auf der Reise ins Jahr 2026, über mehrere Festplatten und Betriebssysteme hinweg, bei einem Haufen der Bilder die Timestamps aufgefressen hat und sein Schwammhirn jetzt grübelt, wann nochmal diese dämliche Gartenparty gewesen ist.
