I definitely recommend clicking through the ILGA-Europe Rainbow map, it gives an useful overview over the legal situation for LGBTQ+ folk in Europe. And there are some pretty striking differences.

The #ILGA-Europe Rainbow Map 2025 went online today, which rates how equal or unequal #LGBTQ+ people are treated in #Europe.

Unsurprisingly, #Hungary’s rating got way worse.

Here’s a chart showing #UK’s score has dropped from 86% in 2015 to 46% in 2025. This year it dropped by 5 percentage points, due to court decisions that effectively nullified legal #gender recognition for trans ppl.

The org also notes there is a general negative trend in Europe.

@ILGA-Europe is an incredible organisation. They put an enormous amount of work into researching and analysing #LGBTQ law, legislation, and statistics from across Europe to provide a comprehensive safety breakdown for the community.

The United Kingdom has fallen to 15th in their ranking. This is incredibly disappointing and shows how far behind we are falling when compared to our allies.
