Didn't know the dangers of increasing sodium too quickly when treating hyponatremia.

Low Sodium and How to Prevent Osmotic Demyelination Syndrome

YouTube

I know there are at least some of you here on Mastodon that live with EDS and/or POTS so maybe someone could chime in if they have any advice. Mainly I'm curious if anyone has an experience with hypovolemia that suddenly seems to become persistent. Of course, there's no definitive Dx that hypovolemia is what's going on its the most logical POTS mechanism for what I'm dealing with (I do have POTS and EDS Dx). Generally I'll hit a point where I just don't feel thirsty anymore and the decline leads to a UC or ER visit for saline IV and after that I come home and just feel like drinking Pedialyte constantly which is a good thing but right now it seems like I'm abruptly falling back into the pre-fluids state in only a couple days and I don't know why. I can't afford frequent IVs because US healthcare sucks. I'm not sure what to do. Anyone have any tips?

The TL;DR saga of Anna’s magnesium infusions:

Magnesium/Hartmanns IV infusions are the only thing that help me with all my symptoms, especially #ChronicPain #POTS #Hypovolemia & #migraine.

They’re $500 each. I can’t put it off anymore, I have to get out of this bed and the pain is intolerable.

I have a favour to ask to make this affordable: Are there any #nurses, #doctors or others here who are qualified to administer IVs in #Melbourne willing to help for less?

My former #GP was too dumb to write a care plan properly so the local hospital had to reject it (I checked with the nurse unit manager). Then he dumped me as a patient because the work was too hard. I could be getting them done for a small fee via ‘Hospital in the Home’ by now but instead I have to pay for them privately.

Guess how much they are? $500! Yes, each. Aaaaahhhh! No Medicare rebate. But I can’t put it off anymore, I have to get out of this bed and the pain is intolerable. Yes, they have to be done at home, I’m bedridden. I can’t go to hospital/day procedure without a valid care plan. ER will not do it.

I’ve got the referral, the magnesium, just have to get the Hartmanns and equipment from a medical supplier. You are legally covered. The GP who wrote the referral will even talk to you if you have questions.

Yes, already checked places like HireUp and they can’t promise me their nurses are qualified as they Police check not qualifications check (wtf right?), and private nursing agencies are short staffed in my area.

If anyone can help me out I will pay you fairly and will be extremely grateful. I need them about once a month and at $500 each I am not sure how I’m going to do it otherwise.

Thanks for reading. I hope that all made sense (in pain here). Yes this is really the short version!
