Got in car, set up HF radio, reset car's MPG meter and started commute home. Out onto highway, found big boxy trucks to follow, 80-100 kph in the slow lane.
Cross the valley, climb the mountain, spin the dial, scan the bands.
Radio needs no looking at; controls are familiar, so are HF bands. Listen.
No good opportunity to speak, but plenty to hear.
Finish up 45m later, roll quietly through neighborhood on electric motor. Home, park. Looked at car's MPG: 92.0

Rolling up the entrance ramp onto the highway before dawn. Spot a semi rumbling along ahead, accelerate more to catch up with it.
Slide in behind, decent number car lengths back, let off accelerator pedal, wobble along in the slipstream, let the truck punch the hole through the air, while I gain a few percent in efficiency.
Internal combustion engine stops, electric motor keeps me properly behind the truck, drafting along, at about 100 kmh.
I watch the digital readouts.
It's just a Toyota.
I do drive most boringly, over in the slow lane, staying under 60MPH, using regenerative braking, drafting maybe a semi at safe distance long as it's not a damn rock tosser. I take my time, play a music stream, chill.
Then mileage climbs up and up..
Wenn ich alleine unterwegs bin und niemanden hinter mir habe, dann fahre ich schon mal 70km/h statt 100km/h und 50-60km/h statt 70km/h. 🤫
Nur wenn ich merke, dass hinten jemand kommt, gehe ich auf die vorgeschriebene Geschwindigkeit. Will ja niemensch ausbremsen. 😅
