Cheap wooden #polytunnel
The first hoop is laminated, edges planed & routed and oiled.
The instructions of the glue say "not below 6Β°C". We have 7Β°C. The one done yesterday morning had to stay in the fixture all night and the glue still could have had some more time.
So instead of 2-3 hoops/day, I just get one done.
Found a nice spot for storage. πŸ™‚

#hoophouse #greenhouse #gardening #colorado after 15 years of battling late frosts, May snowstorms, hailstorms, shredding winds, grasshopper plagues, and early first frosts gardening at the edge of the Rocky Mountains, DH and I have finally built my gardening dream: a 15x24 hoophouse that I hope will blunt this climate's very rough edges. It is engineered for high winds and snow loads and has roll up sides and insect netting. 🀞It makes gardening here less heartbreaking!

Just re-posting what I did yesterday for #sundiy. I don't think I'll be as productive in the same way today.

1. spent most of the day cutting and burning brush. Someone pointed out yesterday that the wood is pretty green, and it is. I didn't get a pic of the brush pile, but it's effin' big and I'm only one person with a hand saw.

2 and 3. making a couple #hΓΌgelkultur beds. Should I just tag it as #hugelkultur so people can type it? I think so. Cardboard lining on the bottom for...kind of a weed barrier I guess. Kills all the grass and weeds underneath. At least theoretically. But I had decent luck with it in the other beds.

4. Neighborhood cat "helper" showed up. He's a bit camouflaged in the box with all the dead grass. I liberated some PVC pipe from work and I'm gonna use it to make a #hoophouse. That structure that's already propped up there, that was just for netting to keep rabbits out. That's gonna come down and I'm gonna make it into a little #greenhouse.

Alright. I think I'm gonna try and grow some #elderberry and maybe some #ginger. Not totally sure if that works in this climate though. Definitely gonna try some #garlic again. I'll convert at least one of the raised beds into a hinged #hoophouse #greenhouse.

Can't afford health insurance, so I'm gonna grow some fucking medicine I guess.

Still growing #BokChoy in the basement, so I'm getting a little bit of fresh greens in these cold, dark times.

I got two 6-month water filters, and an air filter that I *believe* is rated for 6months.

My buddy @Got_Rent_Strike gave me a couple big bags of pumpkin seeds, which are a great energy source.

#solarpunkactionweek? IDK. Just planning out loud for the coming year I guess. If we get Medicare for All maybe I'll feel a bit less pressure on this, but it's also a bit exciting. I kinda started doing this without realizing there's a pattern.
