I've got my hands on one of these passively cooled N100 machines with 4 ethernet ports and want to use it as a (completely overpowered) router.

I'm contemplating setting it up with #NixOS instead of #pfSense or #OPNsense. Good idea or complete and utter overkill? 😅

This gl.inet router combo is just... awesome! Not perfect (10gbe NIC's and vLAN's are missing), but the best value for money proposition I have seen so far. Being a client of their terrific KVM's I just could not stay away. :-)

GL.iNet Ultimate Wi-Fi 7 Duo: Flint 3 & Slate 7

Use Flint 3 as your home VPN server and Slate 7 as your travel VPN client. Enjoy ultra-fast, secure access to your private network anywhere you go.

So up until this week the #TPLink xe75 Pro was going to be my next #HomeRouter. While I think the reasons for going after TP-Link have little to do with security patches, I still don’t want to end up with a router from a company banned in the US for long-term maintenance reasons. That being the case…any suggestions for a reasonably priced tri-band mesh system with built in #VPN server functionality?

I'll be recommending #Quad9 to #familyandfriends - set your #laptop , or even better, your #homerouter #DNS to 9.9.9.9, and you get #malware domain protection.

https://www.quad9.net/

I'd still recommend #pihole or #adguard to users with more savvy, but quad9 is much more accessible for less savvy folks as a recommendation.

Pihole can still use quad9 upstream DNS (mine does).

Just pulled the trigger on zimaboard after staring at the board sitting in my cart for a week. planning to use it as my pfSense device.
