The @ietf draft-ietf-iotops-iot-dns-guidelines on #IoT #DNS guidelines provides a practical perspective. It focuses less on introducing novel DNS features and more on ensuring that IoT devices implement fundamental DNS practices correctly.

Follow normal DNS standards, use the resolver provided by the network, prefer encrypted DNS where possible, support #DNSSEC, cache sanely, and fail gracefully during outages.
