@realmurphy In Germany? The #Homematic IP hardware is very solid. (I replaced my thermostats with them about 5 years ago.)
I no longer run their CCU, but use the most excellent https://github.com/jens-maus/RaspberryMatic build alongside my #HomeAsisstant install (VMs/containers).
It's all local, no cloud. Even if it were to turn into abandonware, I guess I'd simply be stuck on the versions I have.

My father has a #Zigbee bridge and a bunch of #Sonofd temperature sensors, and the app is just horrible. The connection to the app is unreliable, the graphs are useless, etc. But I don't want to just flash #Tasmota to them and make him dependent on my #homeasisstant
@nova writing a small filtering proxy for #homeasisstant that will let me implement RBAC (eg let my neighbor open our shared door without giving them access to my whole unit, sensor info, etc).
Anybody know of a smart smoke detector which:
- connects to wifi and has an app
- is not on the Google Home / Assistant platform
- has other sensors like temperature and maybe CO?
