This is a portion of a large postcard and correspondence collection from the Schmidt and Chloupek families of Mishicot, Wisconsin. The majority of the correspondence in this set is addressed to Lillian Chloupek Schmidt (1888-1960), Anna Tesarik Chloupek (1861-1935), Victor Chloupek (1881-1930), Olga Chloupek (1891-1911), Edwin Chloupek (1893-1972), and Blanche Chloupek Cootway (1886-1955).

🪔 On the slope of the #Halberg hill, overlooking the #Saar (Germany), was once located a roman Vicus Saravus – it stood on the Roman road linking Divodurum (Metz) to Borbitomagus (Wörms). During the Late Roman Empire this place was home to a Roman legion camp and legionnaires were using he Halberg grotto as a sanctuary to the god #Mithras.
