Just found about an awesome route planning tool for outdoor activities: https://gpx.studio/

Not really a fan of the walled garden aproach of 'komoot' and similar options, so I looked for other tools.

This alternative is not only easy to use, but it's ad free and open-source :)

=> Easy .gpx download and straight into my companion app of choice!

@pasco11 gpx.studio ist sicher auch eine Option. Verschiedene Basemaps (inkl.

Siehe oben.

gpx.studio

Realized there's other formats for export: .kml and .tcx. TCX has the most data (time, sensor data, elevation, etc)

This site offers merging of TCX with GPX (and other tools): https://gotoes.org/gotoes/strava/

I found a Python script that converts TCX to GPX that I've yet to try: https://github.com/pascalmariany/tcx2gpx

The elevation data this time is also from the TCX data, instead of generated by Mapbox via GPX.studio. I am guessing it should be more accurate.

Heute gefunden: eine schöne Webseite zum erstellen von Tracks/Routen zum Wandern und Radfahren, ohne Login, ohne Werbung, ohne Stuss, ohne Gängelung.

Und funktioniert richtig gut und eingängig:

I want to share my appreciation for gpx.studio, a online #FLOSS tool for creating, opening and editing GPX files. No account needed. Based on #openstreetmap.

Planning my next #cycling #trip

On Friday I start my last two weeks of summer vacation, so it's becoming urgent that I decide what I'll do.

Since picking up #biking again a few years ago, I've wanted to ride the Route verte Nº 1 (part of the Trans Canada Trail) from the Québec City area to Sherbrooke (about 200 km/124mi SSW).

Right now I'm thinking of a path that would go through Sherbrooke then hook through Magog and go back North to Drummondville where I have relatives, and where I could get picked up to drive back to QC. The steep climbs around Sherbrooke (nowhere near Alps level of course) kind of worry me! 😨

This would be a 360 km trip, my longest to date. I have to figure out lodging (if not everything's booked already 🙄 ) and if I'd do it in 5 or 6 days.

I created a basic gpx trace using #opensource #gpxstudio, and below is a link on the GpxPod app on my #Nextcloud. It's very nice, unfortunately not very mobile-friendly.
