@f4grx @debacle @nicoco @Elizafox the problem is that @signalapp (by @Mer__edith 's own admission) has their #LockIn on #AWS against #Signal, so it's precisely not the case!

  • If the #Trump-Regime of #Bezos dislikes them, they can pull the plug on them and kill Signal instantly…

And I'd NEVER consider that a good option, even if Trump wasn"t #POTUS!

#VivaldiBrowser's most important thing is the #UI. #OpenSourcing it all would still mean letting others take it, no matter of how it is with others.
After all, #VivaldiTechnologies is a company that relies mainly on this. Some people complain about #DirectMatch and #sponsored #searchEngines, even though they are removable. If they would #openSource it, soon there would appear a “#debloated #Vivaldi” version #forked by some people. How would Vivaldi make #money then, I ask you?

THIS is #extortion and #blackmail by #Google and I'd like to ask if anyone else wants to file protest at @BNetzA & @EUCommission if not file charges against #Google for said felonious blackmail...

Seriously, I hope @fdroidorg / #Fdroid and other #3rdParty #AppStores actively consider this #AntiCompetitive action by Google as an act of #sabotage.

  • NOONE can claim Google are "the good guys" when they are subject to #CloudAct and enforce #cyberfacist bs like that.

Three years ago, I was part of a team responsible for developing and maintaining Kubernetes clusters for end user customers. A main source for downtime in customer environments occurred when image registries went down. The traditional way to solve this problem is to set up a stateful mirror, however we had to work within customer budget and time constraints which did not allow it. During a Black Friday, we started getting hit with a ton of traffic while GitHub container registries were down. This limited our ability to scale up the cluster as we depended on critical images from that registry. After this incident, I started thinking about a better way to avoid these scalability issues. A solution that did not need a stateful component and required minimal operational oversight. This is where the idea for Spegel came from.
