On responding to Trump’s tariffs.
I wonder if every other country in the world is asking these questions:
- Do we really need to buy goods and services from the US?
- Can we buy these items elsewhere?
- Can we make these items ourselves?
- What are the minimum US supplied goods that we need for now?
- How can we shift our exports currently going to the US to other countries?
- Do we really need the US as an ally?
- Do we want the US military on our soil?
- Can we form alliances against the US?
- Do we want to be dependent on the dollar for international trade?
- Do we want the US to retain the control it has over the international financial trading system?
I doubt that it’s a stretch to suggest that these and other questions are being asked world-wide.
If I were a US corporation I would be terrified that in a few years countries will find answers to these questions that won’t end well for the US economy and security.

This is powerful stuff and the Harry Litman video is well worth watching. Do John Roberts' remarks amount to a much needed turning point with the court? Could be.
Personally, I think we have two possible turning points elsewhere, in American public opinion: 1) Trump showing a bizarre lack of understanding of the foreign trade aspect of the economy and 2) ICE acting as Trump's gestapo with an extraordinary lack of accountability. If the Supreme Court does not turn on Trump, each of these two things could get the American people to turn on him. It is one thing, for instance, to see and hear about ICE agents deporting people and it is a very different thing for ICE agents to come in disguising their identities and snatching and deporting people from YOUR city streets.

Something #DiaperDon doesn't understand is that economically the #US needs #China. #China does NOT need the US or at least not as much.
If these countries maintain their tariffs against each other, China will find other markets for its goods. The US probably will not, especially not all of the cheap goods currently made in China.
Will US consumers pay 145% or more to buy what they're buying now that's made in China & will Chinese consumers pay 125% or more for US goods? 🤔
It's unlikely & this will entirely "decouple" the US & Chinese economies which will will have dire consequences mostly for "US." 😳
He even still said in a recent press conference that China is paying for the tariffs placed on goods imported into the US. What an idiot!!! 🤦♂️
