Listening through the Cage/Feldman open-ended conversations, recorded at WBAI studios in New York (1966–67). Cage questioning Feldman’s ‘soft sounds,’ then sudden loud cut-ins, and more. https://archive.org/details/CageFeldmanConversation2

Deborah #Feldman relates the destiny of an interview with Nathan #Thrall and Die #Zeit, one of the influent German Newspapers who weaponize #antisemitism and a lot of other terms concerning Gaza, the Westbank and Palestinian Life under #occupation, #colonization, #martial law and #Apartheid, a 5 monte story:

« The Pulitzer Prize winning author of „A Day in the Life of Abed Salama“ came to #Germany
for a book tour last September, after the German edition had been released by tiny, brave Pendragon Verlag, once all the big names had passed for fear of antisemitism accusations. I had the honor of escorting Nathan Thrall on various stops throughout the country, moderating and translating the discussions with him. The audiences were enraptured, often moved to shuddering tears, deeply emotionally transformed by the experience. The press was invariable admiring, despite obvious hesitancy. And soon interviewers were running after Nathan to get his perspective in print. Front and center was Germany‘s most widely read neoliberal-bougie weekly Die Zeit. The reporter was eager to land the scoop. The interview was lengthy and juicy. There was just one problem. It wasn‘t published as promised. And when Nathan inquired as to why, pointing to the time and energy he had invested in good faith (an experience I myself had with Die Zeit in summer of 2023) he was simply ghosted. Only when I called the reporter and his paper out on x and instagram a few weeks later, did Nathan suddenly receive an email apologizing for the disappearance with a litany of thin excuses. But the story didn‘t end there, oh no, it went on for months, in which the editor wanted to keep tweaking at the article, unsatisfied with some of the more provocative answers. He even reframed the questions so he wouldn’t have to include some of the response material. He put pressure on Nathan to allow for various cuts, basically holding the interview hostage until he agreed. It was a long road. We had to put pressure on the guy on a daily basis near the end. Someone even slipped us his phone number so we could tighten the screws. And so, finally, finally, finally, after five whole months, we have an interview with Nathan Thrall in Germany‘s most widely read paper, where he tell it like it is in ways this country has tried everything to avoid. I’m posting some images of the highlights in English, the full German version can be found here:https://archive.ph/2025.02.12-144826/https://www.zeit.de/kultur/2025-02/nathan-thrall-autor-westjordanland-nahost/komplettansicht

The fifth strike in #Kharkiv just today was confirmed by the city's mayor.

It targeted an industrial zone. Information about the damage is being clarified. Preliminary, there were no casualties.

The videos show the aftermath of the Russian attack on the #Feldman Ecopark near #Kharkiv.

One employee rescued four mares and a pony from a burning stable but injured his hands and legs. He is now in hospital, the director of the enterprise said.

Deborah Feldman: “Germans tend to cut off any attempt at constructive conversation with the much-favoured phrase that topic is much too complicated.
[…] Non-affiliated voices are often silenced or discredited, replaced by the louder ones of Germans whose Holocaust-guilt complexes cause them to fetishise Jewishness to the point of obsessive-compulsive embodiment.”

Germany is a good place to be Jewish. Unless, like me, you’re a Jew who criticises Israel

The pro-Israel political consensus has shut out any dissenting voices – as I found in a TV debate with the vice-chancellor, says author Deborah Feldman
