AGI/Vista - A new wave of Russian attacks struck 11 regions of Ukraine overnight, causing at least four deaths and dozens of injuries, including several children. The provisional balance was released by Ukrainian authorities while rescue and recovery operations are underway in the affected areas. According to official figures, Moscow deployed a massive strike force: over 390 drones and 34 missiles of various types (ballistic, cruise, and guided). Residential buildings in Zaporizhzhia and Poltava were hit, while a near-40 drone attack was concentrated in Shostka (Sumy). Il Fatto Quotidiano: Condannato per violenza sessuale si era arruolato nell’esercito russo: rimpatriato e arrestato

Aveva trovato rifugio in Finlandia, poi in Spagna e in Russia per sfuggire alla condanna per il reato di violenza sessuale aggravata. Si era poi arruolato per combattere in Donbass con l’esercito di Mosca ed era stato catturato dai soldati ucraini. Mercoledì 25 marzo, dopo una fuga durata anni, Gianni Cenni è stato arrestato all’aeroporto di Fiumicino.
L’uomo era stato condannato a novembre 2022 e aveva deciso di darsi alla latitanza partendo per l’estero: la sua fuga era iniziata a dicembre 2022 e, secondo il comunicato pubblicato dalla Procura di Napoli, era fuggito prima nel paese scandinavo, per poi aprire una pizzeria dal nome “Via Napoli” a Formentera, in Spagna.
Si era poi trasferito in Russia dove aveva sposato una cittadina russa e aveva deciso di arruolarsi nell’esercito di Mosca per combattere contro le forze ucraine, dove era stato poi catturato nel gennaio del 2025. Il latitante era stato poi ricoverato in un ospedale di Kharkiv e infine trasferito in un carcere per prigionieri di guerra, fino al rimpatrio in Italia dove dovrà ora scontare la sua pena. L’uomo è stato quindi arrestato, dopo il rientro dall’Ucraina, grazie a un’indagine svolta dai Carabinieri del Nucleo Investigativo di Napoli, con l’ausilio del Servizio di Cooperazione Internazionale di Polizia.

Convicted of sexual assault, he enlisted in the Russian army: deported and arrested.

He had found refuge in Finland, then in Spain and Russia to escape conviction for the crime of aggravated sexual assault. He had then enlisted to fight in Donbass with the Moscow army and had been captured by Ukrainian soldiers. On Wednesday, March 25th, after a flight of years, Gianni Cenni was arrested at Fiumicino Airport.

The man had been sentenced in November 2022 and had decided to go on the run, leaving for abroad: his flight had begun in December 2022 and, according to the statement released by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Naples, he had first fled to a Scandinavian country, then opened a pizzeria called “Via Napoli” in Formentera, Spain.

He then moved to Russia where he married a Russian citizen and decided to enlist in the Moscow army to fight against Ukrainian forces, where he was subsequently captured in January 2025. The fugitive was then admitted to a hospital in Kharkiv and finally transferred to a prison for prisoners of war, until his repatriation to Italy where he now must serve his sentence. The man was therefore arrested, after returning from Ukraine, thanks to an investigation carried out by the Carabinieri of the Investigative Unit of Naples, with the assistance of the International Police Cooperation Service.
