"Ottmar carries the moon"

What looks like a small creature carrying a silver ball is an exuvia, the former shell of a dragonfly. I photographed it against the light with a macro lens. “The moon” – is one of hundreds of reflections in the water.

It's summertime and that means it's also cicadatime! These little things are EVERYWHERE! The thrumming sounds they make are the ambient white noise of the season. If you're lucky to be up early enough you might catch the transition from complete silence to the rhythmic buzzing of the cicadas waking up - it happens in like three seconds flat, it's incredible. ✨
