Update

The latest update on the LA fires reveals an alarming situation. Emergency responders have engaged in a remarkable 19,300 emergency responses, highlighting the severity and urgency of the ongoing crisis. With 105 active wildfires consuming nearly 40,300 acres of land, the impact on the region is profound. We are deeply saddened to report at least 13 preliminary fatalities, a number which awaits confirmation from the coroner’s office. Furthermore, the destruction of more than 12,300 structures affects not just homes but the very fabric of community life.

Evacuation orders are enforced due to immediate threats to life, and authorities strongly urge residents to evacuate without delay. While some progress has been made by our resilient firefighting crews, challenges persist, heightened by looming windy and dry conditions that threaten to hinder containment efforts.

We stand in solidarity with the brave firefighting teams and urge everyone in the affected areas to comply with safety directives, ensuring the well-being of all involved. Together, through cooperation and support, we can move through this crisis towards recovery and healing.

Trop Cyclone Milton is leaving Yucatan, and about 12-16hrs from landing onto Florida. Still a Cat4 cyclone, at over 155mph and just about 930mb.

Milton has shifted track a bit, likely because of coming "down" from the Yucatan peninsula continental shelf, *and* some top shearing starting.

That can potentially affect prediction of landfall time and precise spot. Top wind shearing is expected to *increase*, further weakening Milton's surface winds.

The expectation for landfall still is slightly S of #Tampa Bay, at some point mid morning, Wednesday 10th Oct, as a Cat3 cyclone.

Both the climb onto continental shelf (shallower water), the landing itself and coming onto dry land will disperse a lot of energy, bringing Milton to a mid to high Cat2, then further downgrade to a high Cat1.

Storm still slatted to go over #Orlando, later Wednesday mid afternoon, as Cat1 cyclone.

Milton is reaching peak wind speeds, at a full blown Cat5, as of now.

Yucatan peninsula N will catch some hell.

Moving forward, Milton will meet some shearing, and waters that are not as warm, along with #tropicalDisturbance1 which is pushing considerable mass of hot air, light rain away from Florida Keys into the Atlantic, creating a vast plume of air + rain, which will have a considerable mitigating effect on Milton.

Milton is still expected to make landing as a Cat3, irrespective of panic floggers and dezinfo.
