For two days in a row – on Jerusalem Day and the day after – Standing Together activists, Jews and Palestinians, were everywhere in the Old City of Jerusalem providing a protective presence and standing in solidarity with Palestinians against extremist settlers. (1/3)

While extremists marched through the city chanting racist chants, attacking Palestinians, vandalizing Palestinian-owned property, and spreading fear through entire neighborhoods despite a large police presence, hundreds of activists were there to help locals. (2/3)

They wanted Palestinians alone and afraid, instead, everywhere they turned, they found organized Jewish-Palestinian solidarity standing in their way. (3/3)

Une déclaration de UK Friends of Standing Together sur les récentes attaques antisémites.

Des meurtres à la synagogue de Heaton Park à Manchester en octobre, aux plus récentes attaques criminelles à l'incendie contre des ambulances de Hatzolah et la synagogue de Kenton, jusqu'aux agressions à l'arme blanche d'hier contre deux personnes juives à Golders Green, les mois et semaines passés ont vu plusieurs attaques antisémites épouvantables au Royaume-Uni.

Standing Together lutte en Israël pour construire une société dans laquelle chacun, indépendamment de son origine nationale, ethnique ou religieuse, est en sécurité, libre et égal.

UK Friends of Standing Together défend et lutte pour ces mêmes valeurs dans notre pays.

Bien que les statistiques montrent que les événements en Israël-Palestine sont souvent des déclencheurs de pics d'attaques antisémites, nous rejetons l'argument selon lequel l'antisémitisme est « causé par » les actions d'Israël.

L'antisémitisme a des racines idéologiques antérieures à l'existence d'Israël, et la conviction que s'attaquer à des personnes juives ou à des institutions communautaires au Royaume-Uni puisse jamais être une réponse légitime aux actions d'Israël est en soi antisémite.

Ces attaques antisémites s'inscrivent également dans le contexte d'une montée des politiques d'extrême droite, qui ciblent divers groupes minoritaires.

Contrer cela, et gagner la liberté et l'égalité, au Royaume-Uni, en Israël-Palestine et partout ailleurs, nécessite une lutte basée sur la solidarité.

La véritable solidarité n'est pas transactionnelle — aider les autres si nous pensons qu'ils nous aideront — mais une approche de la politique basée sur une lutte commune autour d'intérêts partagés.

L'antisémitisme doit être affronté et déraciné.

Nous sommes solidaires de ceux qui sont ciblés par l'antisémitisme, et par d'autres formes de sectarisme et de préjugés.
