#PetBlessing today at both services. Only had one at 8:00, a cat named Taz. Owner asked for an exorcism, but I offered a blessing instead. 😂
We’ll see what the 10:00 service brings.

Nashotah House - Haunted Lineage

The grounds of this Episcopal seminary have been inhabited since the 1500s and have been haunted by a ghost since the mid-1700s. When an acolyte to the

I’ve heard a rumor that the nominee for the next #ArchbishopOfCanterbury will be announced today. Seems like a good time to pray for the unity of the Church:

Oh God, Creator of our Redeemer Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace: Give us grace seriously to lay to heart the great dangers we are in by our unhappy divisions; take away all hatred & prejudice, & whatever else may hinder us from godly union & concord; that, as there is but one Body & one Spirit, one hope of our calling, one Redeemer, one Faith, one Baptism, one God & Creator of us all, so we all may be of one heart & of one soul, united in one holy bond of truth & peace, of faith & charity, & may with one mind & one mouth glorify You; through Jesus Christ. Amen.

(From the #Episcopal #BCP edited by me for inclusive language.)

Almighty God, we thank you for the hard & honest efforts of the nominating committee & ask your blessings on them, their chosen candidate, & all the people of the Anglican Communion. Amen.

Switching things up today & doing #NoondayPrayer since I slept through Morning Prayer. For those unfamiliar with Noonday Prayer in the #Episcopal tradition, it tends to be a very quick service (that’s even shorter in A Disciple’s Prayer Book) that brings us back to God at the heart of the working day. For me, it’s a chance to release the cares of the morning & reset my heart & mind.
It’s no coincidence that I’ve said heart twice already as the #Gospel for 2 #October 2025 is Matthew 7:22-29 & what sticks out for me is “On that day, the time when the Creator reveals all hearts…” in verse 22. There’s more, of course, but this phrase calls on me to acknowledge that I don’t always know my own heart (or mind). Sometimes I think I do. If, however, I found myself standing before God today, could I really say with confidence what is truly in my heart? I’m not sure. I know where I want to give my heart, I’m just not convinced I always do so or follow where the Holy/Great Spirit leads. #DPB

Back to #Green today in A Disciple’s Prayer Book #DPM The #Gospel for 30 September 2025 is Matthew 7:1-12 & quite honestly I’m beginning to think the #Episcopal parishes I belong to are doing #Stewardship too late this year. The lessons for the last week have been all about #generosity & #Community Speaking of which, Sunday was a celebration of #abundance & #blessings at #AllSaintsOmaha we blessed a couple dozen afghans & prayer shawls from #GratefulThreads handed over a check from the annual golf tournament to #MagdaleneOmaha & blessed 2 shopping carts/buggies full of food for our permanent #FoodPantry Thanks be to God for all these blessings, & may they bless though who receive them in even greater measure!

I’m tying these things together with verse 8: “Answers will come to the ones who ask, good things will be found by the ones who search for them, & the way will open before the ones who keep dancing their prayers.” Don’t forget the joy of prayer & blessing others today!

The #Green #morning #devotional from A Disciples Prayer Book, offers 3 questions for reflecting on today’s #gospel which for 25 September 2025 is #Matthew 6:1-6,16-18.

This passage challenges me because I have difficulty reconciling it with the instruction to let my light shine. The balance I have found is to live my faith openly & truthfully, not just for show. At the same time I feel called to represent my faith in public, particularly right now, because the image/idea so many people have of #Christians is not a good one. Throughout my day I encounter too many people who do not know what the #Episcopal branch of the #Jesus Movement is. The idea of a welcoming, affirming church that strives to live in love, both human & divine, is, too often, new to people. In part, that is because we take these verses too literally. We are too private, to the point that people are shocked when we explain what our church stands for & the faith journey we are each on. #DPB

Feeling called to switch up my daily devotions, so I’m opting to use A Disciple’s Prayer Book from the #Indigenous Ministries of the #Episcopal Church. I don’t really have a reason for choosing that, perhaps it’s the time of year/harvest season or the interlude book we’re reading for #EfM (The Four Vision Quests of Jesus by Steven Charleston). To my knowledge I do not have any #NativeAmerican ancestors, although I suppose it’s possible since I’ve never done an ancestry DNA test of any kind. I just, periodically, find myself drawn to #FirstNations ministries and issues (particularly to calling attention to #MMIWG )

I’m starting with #Green since that’s the color for the current liturgical season. Just so I can reference my social media ponderings in the future, I’ll tag them #DPB & the color.
