On this #4thDayOfChristmas it is currently 4 outside, with an expected high of 15.
As per my tradition (and probably some others) we have #Christmas #LessonsAndCarols today. No matter how many brave the cold, it’s always a fun service.
All #Christmas services are in the books. Time to relax for a bit before heading over to a parishioner’s house for some Christmas food.
This coming Sunday is #LessonsAndCarols, so all I have to do is sing Christmas hymns and preside at Communion.
I wish Christmas could be on Thursday every year …. It makes the season almost feel calm.
Less than 30 minutes to the first service, then another one a few hours after that ( 4 & 7 US Mountain Time).
For those who celebrate, #MerryChristmas. For those of other persuasions, #HappyHolidays
Working on the #ChristmasEve sermon and tying together ideas of #Pilgrimage and #NoRoom.
Pilgrimage to the Christmas Eve worship and remembering that God is the God of those who find themselves with no room to be.
Yesterday was #Advent4 and I preached on #Love. Started with the vast variety….. I love: my wife, the church, #Tillamook ice cream, watching the Dallas Cowboys lose, pizza, my daughter.
After service a parishioner asked, “What kind of dog do you have?”
“I don’t.”
“Oh, I’m sorry. When did it die?”
“What?”
“Didn’t you say you loved your dog?”
“My daughter.”
“Oh …. I need to get these hearing aids checked.”
Everyone is hard at work gearing up for #Christmas. The Altar Guild came in this morning to prep the church and spruce everything up. The parish admin has run all of the bulletins and readings. And I’m working on my last sermon until January 11.
#LessonsAndCarols on 12/28, so no sermon, and the bishop visits on January 4, and he preaches. It’s almost like a two-week vacation.
The theme of the Fourth Sunday of Advent is Love. On this Sunday we hear the birth story from Matthew that focuses on #Joseph.
In this story, Joseph is told it’s ok to ignore laws that place harm over aid.
This year, let’s all be more like Joseph.
