Tomorrow is #TrinitySunday. My hope is to preach long enough so that they’ll be so thoroughly confused they won’t notice any heresies I might have slipped in.

In my morning prayers today, I had some thoughts about the Bible, the politics of the Psalms and Proverbs, and how it is that MAGA and I can read the same Bible but come away with very different views.

We kick over to a single service at 9:00 for the summer beginning today.
That’s an extra hour I have before everything starts and I always feel like I’m forgetting something.

I now have two parishioners on hospice. Went to visit the latest one in the hospital this morning. I told him he was going to miss Pentecost services tomorrow, and that we’re going to one service at 9:00 for the summer.
I then said, “You’ll miss a great sermon—I’m going to get drunk and speak in tongues 😂😂”

I thought he was going to literally die laughing. Thankfully he didn’t.

It's a girl!

The #Episcopal Diocese of #Hawaii has elected a new bishop! The Rev. Libby Berman (left) will be the twelfth bishop to serve in the church that was first established by their Majesties, King Kamehameha IV and Queen Emma (our Holy Sovereigns) and later annexed into the Episcopal Church.

She is also the first woman to hold this position.

She was elected on a single ballot, which low-key blew my mind.

She is pictured here with Bishop Bob, our current bishop.

My current diocese has a local ordination process for people discerning ordination calls.
I got a request from the Dean of the program to take on an intern. I did this when I was in MD, I enjoy the process and helping people with the whole thing, so I agreed.
HOWEVER…..This one is going to be a challenge. She has told the COM that she thinks she does everything well and has no weaknesses. She’s quit the racial sensitivity program because it “blames white people for everything.”
So we’ll see how this goes.

Blessed Feast of the Ascension to those who celebrate. Today the Western Church concludes the Easter celebrations by commemorating Christ Jesus’ ascent into the presence of the Father, completing the work of the Incarnation by bringing human nature into Heaven. A bookend to His conception, where God’s nature was brought to earth.
