hrthu@blaubachn depends on use. I prefer #XMPP if I have a choice. It works well for 1-to-1 conversations. #Conversions and #Gajim are both solid. Lightweight and simple. #OMEMO. Con: no voice/video. #Matrix is more of a #IRC or #Slack replacement. #Riot client is terribly confusing for non-tech people. 1-to-1 voice/video work well. #encrption hidden in options. #NextcloudTalk is great b/c I can send anyone w/ a browser a link. More reliable than #JitsiMeet. Haven't tried to federate it.
