Before visiting the #EiffelTower, I didn’t realize that the names of famous French mathematicians, scientists and other luminaries were displayed above its four arches.

Heard it now a few times in reviews that (some) full frame glasses are sharper on full frame then on a APS-C #camera.

What's the reason for this? I would expect it's being the same and maybe better at the corners since the field of view is smaller on the crop sensor and the >not so good corners< on a full frame sensor are outside of the view of the cropped sensor.

Alter Strom in Warnemünde

It's the view from the train station bridge into the old harbor, with old captain's houses on the left in two rows.

It's been a while, but I return with what I think is good content. I took this photo of a ferris wheel from one of the pedestrian walkways on New York City's Triborough Bridge (also known as the R.F.K. Bridge) on June 8, 2019. I used my old Nikon D40 camera for the task. I do not remember the exact location of the wheel itself, but I think that it is on Randall's Island (alternative possibility would be Astoria, Queens). You can read more about the photo in a short article:

I negligently lost the original version of the photo and was left with a degraded version from Google Photos which I downloaded before deleting my photos account. I used a new app called Upscayl to create a bigger version of it.

I think it came out fairly well, notwithstanding my computer crashing the first time I tried to upscale.

I took this photo of an American Flag against the backdrop of the Brooklyn Bridge on March 26, 2007. It is old enough that I originally uploaded it to Picasa (and I did not realize that Google degraded the quality of my old images, alas). Now safely retrieved, I post it here for Memorial Day along with a piece for the solemn occasion.

“Memorial Day” by Helen Leah Reed

Re-printing an early 20th century Memorial Day poem by Helen Leah Reed, a prominent children’s author and poet of the day.

This was my first attempt of night time photography.

It was a chilly night and my pal and I wandered out into the woods and set up a tripod to see what we could get. This was before I even know what RAW format was.

I think I got a pretty good shot of Orion though.

Why I don’t use DSLR cameras anymore - DIY Photography

There was a heated discussion caused by the entrance of cameras without a mirror into the market, also as known as “mirrorless” or “CSC”. This debate was fueled perhaps not so much by the absence of the mentioned mirror, as by the replacement of the essential optical viewfinder with the new and improved electronic viewfinder. […]

On November 6, 2018, a beautiful golden maple leaf, with red accents remaining on its edges, found its way to my insular Juliet balcony. Taken by its aesthetic qualities, I brought it inside and set the scene for it. I misted it, placed it on my petrified wood coaster, and placed my coaster on a melamine surface. It is good that I acted quickly - for the leaf shriveled up almost as soon as it dried. Ephemeral.

mirrorless interchangeable lens camera #milc
electronic vewfinder interchangeable lens #evil

those would be the proper tags. is why I tagged milc in my last toot. But I wish milc-folk and #dlsr-folk could agree on a tag that ment not-a-phone-pic.. Because that's what we're usually on about anyway 🤷‍♀️

There are currently several #bees feeding off the #thyme #flowers in the back #garden. They seem contented enough to be photographed.
