On April 10, 2026, I photographed a side of an apartment building in the late afternoon in Brooklyn Heights (Brooklyn, NYC; Remsen & Clinton Streets for anyone familiar with the area). I figured I would have some use for a photo with "x" marks on the side of the building. I did find a use case...

I photographed this goose on Manhattan's Battery Park Greenway on the afternoon of February 6, 2014. Back in high school, I had a teacher who said that geese weirded him out because they walk like dinosaurs. There's a reason (https://thenewleafjournal.com/b/DWq) for that but count me as pro-goose (despite that one time a goose bit me in the 1997-99 area when I was giving it bread).

An empty, overgrown baseball field in San Antonio, Texas (Universal City). I took this photo on May 24, 2025. Not much to add. Very clear skies.

Seen in Brooklyn Heights (NYC), a "Stick Library." This is a play on the "Little Free Library" boxes (of which there are a few in the area), featuring items of greater interest to dogs. I have not seen any person or dog use the library, but the sticks do change between visits.

Pictured is Jackie Harris' world famous (or so I have read) "art car" -- the "Fruitmobile." This 1967 Ford station wagon was turned into the Fruitmobile in 1984, and it still participates in Houston's art car parade. Speaking of Houston, I photographed the Fruitmobile in Houston Hobby Airport in May 2025 while waiting for my flight to come in.

Photograph of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church in Red Hook (Brooklyn, NYC). I took this photograph on April 19, 2025 using the GrapheneOS camera app on my Google Pixel 6a, and shared it in a short post commemorating Easter in 2025. One year later, I share it for Easter 2026.

(Aside: I took this photo a few minutes after taking the profile photo I use for NLJ and Emu Cafe Social.)

The Moon was bright on March 12, 2025. Here, I was standing at the intersection of Joralemon Street and Boerum Place in Downtown Brooklyn. I took this photo before the light changed.

I took this photograph through my window (Brooklyn, NYC) on February 22, 2026. You can see a very snow-covered tree (it will soon be covered in pink flowers). This photo came out surprisingly well given the conditions and my limited Ubuntu Touch-powered camera on my Google Pixel 3a XL (if I do say so myself). Only mildly touched up with Krita.

Pictured is a memorial bust of Robert F. Kennedy in Columbus Park near Brooklyn Borough Hall. I took the photo on February 24, 2026, which was the day following a blizzard. You should not need all 20 questions to ascertain which way the wind had been blowing.

A goose in Brooklyn Bridge Park stares at the Statue of Liberty. To be sure, it was not actually staring at the Statue of Liberty, but sometimes your photograph just works out that way. There were actually about 14-15 geese on the snow in Brooklyn Bridge Park on that February 13, 2026 afternoon, you can see some of the group photos in my article: https://thenewleafjournal.com/geese-in-the-snow-in-brooklyn-bridge-park-02-13-26/
